The 2017 New Year’s Resolutions You Need To Try

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

Ever wonder why the majority of your New Year’s Resolutions don’t last? It’s time to make your goals for 2017 a little more realistic…Being realistic isn’t the same as being easy. Instead, go for something you can maintain past, say… February 1st. If you’re anything like me, you’ve started to create a mental list of things you’d like to improve in the future. If not, here are some ideas to get the ball rolling (or dropping) for a fresh new year.

  1. Break a sweat exercising for a half hour at least three times a week.

  2. Get eight hours of sleep each night.

  3. Give your parents a call once a week.

  4. Read one book per month.

  5. Limit yourself to the following once a day of: coffee/soda/dessert/snack.

  6. “Strive for Five” servings of fruit or vegetables each day.

  7. Track your absences so you don’t violate your course attendance policies.

  8. Write every assignment, quiz, and test down in a planner to prevent procrastination.

  9. Give a compliment to yourself and someone else each day.

  10. Meditate for ten minutes each day – however you choose.
