“One Day at a Time” is comedy following a Cuban-American family containing Penelope Alvarez, a single mom and veteran, her sometimes overbearing mother who came to America after Ariel Castro seized power, and Penelope’s two children, Elena and Alex. The show tackles heavy topics such as racism, mental health, coming-out, homophobia and other issues while staying true to its comedic roots.
“One Day at a Time” is truly one of the best and most refreshing things that I have watched in a long time. I cannot wait to see what the Alvarez family will do next.Â
