Spring break is less than a week away and it’s all I can think about.

This year, I made the bold decision to only check a carry-on bag, and I’m quickly realizing how much of an over-packer I am. Honestly, if I could bring my entire bedroom with me, I would. With that being said, I have very little room in my bag and some ideas to help save some space.

So, here is a list of the packing tips I’ve found most useful this spring break!

Pack Neutrals

As much as I want to pack the glittery top that’s hanging in the back of my closet, it’s just not practical. There’s always that one top you love but it almost always requires a certain bottom, a certain belt and only matches one pair of shoes. Soon, your entire bag is full with just one outfit.

Packing neutral tone clothes allow you to mix and match much easier once you’re there. You’ll never regret wearing a plain shirt and jeans!

Jumpsuits, Rompers and dresses

Skip the pants!

Pants will always be your biggest enemy while packing because of how bulky they are. I can fit five sundresses in place of one cargo pant in my suit case. That is exactly why I decided to cut back and add more one piece items for this trip.

Besides, a classic jumpsuit or a cute dress can make you look put together with little effort.

Skip The “Just in case” items

I am notorious for packing things I don’t need. Whether it’s an extra pair of flip flops or body scrub that I will never touch, they will inevitably end up in my bag.

I used to pack nail polish “just in case I needed it.” Spoiler, you won’t.

Skipping these items made a world of difference in my spring break bag. I have no room to mess around with my little carry on, and cutting back on shoes left me with so much more space.

Buy once you’re there

I’m tired of trying to squeeze a giant tub of sunscreen in my bag, so why not buy it there. Buying most of your beach necessities while there can leave a lot of room when packing. After all, if your bag is overweight, you’re going to be spending a lot more than $5 for your sunscreen.

If I leave anything behind in my Airbnb, it’ll give me some good karma for helping out the next guests!

Packing cubes

You’ve probably heard this one a million times but I promise it does make a difference. Not only are packing cubes great for organization before arriving at your destination, but also while you’re there!

In most cases, you won’t have a laundry machine or hamper, so an extra packing cube is the perfect place for dirty socks and wet bikinis!

So, whether you’re packing to go home or to spend a week at the beach, remember it’s spring break! Relax, don’t stress, don’t overpack and enjoy yourself.

You deserve it!
