OSU Reigns Over Michigan…Again

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

When it comes to that pesky school up north, the Buckeyes cannot be stopped! The most recent beat down occurred this past Sunday, January 14th with the Bucks declaring victory by three points (Michigan- 53; OSU- 56). Michigan’s loss separated them from their first number one ranking in more than twenty years. More specifically, it was a close shot that wavered on the rim before bouncing out and signifying the reign of the Buckeyes. And, as Aaron Craft put it so beautifully, “There’s always satisfaction in denying Michigan the No. 1 spot in the country.”

As for the remainder of the season, it’s a little hard to pin point exactly how far OSU’s success will travel this year. There is talk, though, that even with the loss of two of their strong players from last year, they still have a pretty good shot at securing a spot as a top ten team. At the very least they are looking like very good candidates for a top five spot within the Big Ten teams and in the NCAA tournament. Current coach, Thad Matta, explains Aaron Craft’s unique playing of the game and the respect with which his teammates reciprocate it. Matta says the qualities he possesses in conjunction with his game strategies make him a leader who’s easy to follow.

Whether you’ve been following the season from the very beginning or your interest was just sparked from this article, check out the Buckeyes throw down versus Michigan State on January 19 at 6:00 PM or on January 22 at 6:30 PM against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Go Bucks!
