It’s Beat Michigan Week!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

November is a month to be thankful—thankful that the semester is finally winding down, that stretchy yoga pants exist in a post-Thanksgiving world and that you’re not from That State Up North.

As the best d**n fans in the land, Beat Michigan Week is like Christmas on steroids for us.  Waking up for that early 8:00 AM class isn’t so bad when every “M” across campus is covered by large red X’s.  Only an Ohio State student could understand the excitement that is jumping into a body of water teeming with painted bodies, various inflatable alligators and duct-taped flip flops.  In addition to the Mirror Lake Jump, there are a number of other activities that you can participate in to get pumped up to beat those wolverines.

Is your favorite craft that rosy-cheeked (and unfortuntaely, recently engaged) All-American running around the basketball court?  Well, since he’s taken, consider other crafts and let your fellow Buckeyes help you get in touch with your artistic side. Check out the Beat Michigan Craft Night on November 24th in the Union Great Hall Meeting Rooms.

Are you looking to redeem yourself from those awkward middle school gym class days?  Grab five of your friends and head to the RPAC on November 25th at 7:30 PM to demonstrate your dodgeball abilities in the Beat Michigan Dodgeball Tournament.  Registration is $5, with all proceeds going to pediatric cancer research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the James Cancer Research Institute.

Wrap up the week on November 26th by heading to the newly renovated South Oval at 6:00 PM to cheer your team onto victory with your fellow buckeyes at the Beat Michigan Pep Rally and Festival.  There will be pumpkin smashing, music, a zip line and photo opportunities with Brutus.  The first 4,000 students will get free food at the food trucks, so be sure to pick up your wristband at the Information Desk in the Union.
