Gifting Made Easy: Your Guide to Getting on Someone’s Nice List!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OSU chapter.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year …”  That’s right, collegiettes™—Christmas is right around the corner!  My roommate and I have already put our Christmas tree up and have been jamming to Christmas songs.  Okay, maybe we are jumping the gun a bit, but it’s never too early to think about what you will be gifting this holiday season.  Here’s some insight on the things I think will make great gifts this year.  These gifts are so nice, it would be naughty not to get them!

For Your Mom

1. A Scarf

I absolutely love gifts with monograms this year; they make each gift personal.  Fashionable and functional, scarves are a classic gift that can be worn so many ways while keeping you warm.  This scarf from Marley Lilly comes in a variety of colors.  You can also choose the color of the monogram.  Such a great gift for Mom!

2. Custom Jewelry

Aren’t they adorable?  The bangles are handmade and custom ordered.  These are perfect if you’re looking to buy something rare, unusual and so beautiful.  If you’re interested in having something custom ordered, check out VALORIE Arts and Accessories on Facebook and message her with an idea of what you would like to have created.

3. Candles

Even though candles are a bit of a generic gift, Voluspa candles stand out and are my favorite.  Theysmell unbelievably yummy and they burn nicely.  These candles transform a room into a magical place with their scent.  Your mom will definitely love Voluspa candles, too.  You can find Voluspa candles at Bink Davies in the Short North or at Anthropologie!

For Your Dad

1. A Tie
We all know Dad has lots of ties, but does he have an Ohio State one?  If the answer is yes, there are lots of other great ties out there to choose from—but really, you can never have too much OSU gear.  Help Dad show some school spirit with this cute one featuring miniature buckeyes on it.  O-H!

2. A Watch

A watch is such a timeless gift (get it?  It’s punny).  Your dad may already have a watch that he uses, but if your dad is like mine, then he probably needs an upgrade.  I personally love this one with the brown and gold.  So classy.

3. A Money Clip

This money clip can be personalized!  Yay!  You can have your father’s initials, as well as a personal message, engraved on the inside of the clip.  It will be a constant reminder of who it came from and a reminder of how much you love him.  Aww …

For Your Brother/Boyfriend

1. A Flask

A flask is just right to use for game day and we all know boys love their sports!  The combination of leather and metal gives this quirky flask a classic yet modern feel.  We’ll understand if you put yourself on the naughty list for “borrowing” this later on …

2. Touch Screen Gloves

Unfortunately, regular gloves do not work on touch screens!  These gloves have a special pad in the thumb and finger that enable you to use your phone while keeping your hands warm!  They are a great gift to give in preparation for the upcoming cold winter months.
