Campus itself is also large, but still full of those open, green areas that make you forget you’re in a city. It easy to find a quiet corner to enjoy! There’s also a variety of entertainment options in the area, ranging from concerts (Country Fest, events at the Schottenstein Center, indie shows in downtown bars) to sports (Columbus Crew, Clippers, and Blue Jackets, Ohio State athletics). Perhaps most of all, Ohio State is known for its school spirit. When you go to OSU, you enter a lifelong, worldwide community of staff, students, and alumni. This community is supportive and prideful, sharing in the many traditions exclusive to Ohio State. Ohio State is heavily traditional—singing Carmen, Ohio after football games or chanting an “I-O” back at a total stranger are all living examples of the Buckeye spirit. OSU fans have been formally recognized as The Best in the Land; that is, they placed first in the National Fan Index in 2014 and 2015!
