Yes! You made it through the semester, for the next few weeks you can take a breather and relax until Spring semester begins. In the meantime, here are 5 things you must do during winter break:
- Catch up on shows
Between exams, going to class, work, and meetings you probably missed some, if not all your favorite shows over the semester. Now is the time to sit back, relax, and catch up on all the best shows. Netflix offers a free month when you subscribe (which is basically the whole winter break!). Youtube is also another favorite website to watch endless episodes. Going directly to the website is another good suggestion too, but be mindful that they only last a limited amount of time. On my to-watch list is of course Pretty Little Liars, Awkward, girl code, and the infamous Scandal.
- Sleep and Play
Catch up on all the beauty sleep that was missed because of school and especially from finals. Take one day to snuggle up in a blanket, drink some hot chocolate, and sleep the day away. But don’t sleep the break away, get up and go do something fun too. Whether your idea of fun is sledding, going shopping, or reading a book make sure you leave room to play.
- Read
Read lots of books. I just got an iPad and I am really into reading books using the Kindle app. I personally like reading book series because it takes up more time. Lots of books are available for free online, or go to a library and read that non-academic book you’ve wanted to read forever. If you haven’t already Fifty shades of Grey was a awesome series if I do say so myself.
- Get organize
Organize things. Get a jump start on next semester by printing out your syllabus and writing down important things such as test, papers, quizzes, and even what topics will be discussed. Organize and gather information about internships, volunteer opportunities, jobs, or anything else you want to accomplish spring semester. Most of these places want resumes and references, so plan ahead and take your time creating the perfect one. Start using a program like Evernote, or buy a day planner and get in the habit of using it. If it’ll make your coming semester easier, do it!
- Spend time with family and friends
Take time to catch up with family and friends, at times they might not know how the college life is treating you. Just let them know you do love them and will try to do better with contacting them, it’s just college was more than what you expected. This would be a great time to go on a road trip or a vacation somewhere that isn’t snowing!
