Interval training is one of the best ways to lose weight. Structured in fast bursts of exertion, it shoots your heart rate up, but for short amounts of time (30 seconds to 2 minutes). In Hayley’s class she breaks her intervals down into a one-minute strength exercise, a thirty second high intensity aerobic exercise (like burpees or squat jumps), and a one-minute strength exercise to recover, these will be repeated three times.
Beyond the amazing workout you will get from interval training, the short bursts make the time go by much quicker than simply running on a treadmill for forty-five minutes. The constant change in intensity and the variety of exercises keeps it interesting and fun.
Music Choice: The music was fast and laced with a techno beat that keeps energy up throughout the fifty minutes of exertion. Songs included selections from popular hip-hop and contemporary music.
Level of Exertion: This class will make you sweat like crazy, feel the burn, and get that heart rate going.
Soreness: The following day my glutes, triceps, biceps, and hamstrings were sore. Although it wasn’t to the point of not being able to walk, it was confirmed that the class definitely worked me hard.
Instructor Energy: Hayley is like a ball of sunshine. Her energy is off the charts. She is able to motivate the class to push through the burn.
