Subscriptions Boxes are the New Online Shopping

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

On a scale of 1-5, how excited do you get when you see a package on your doorstep? Since I’m definitely around a 6, I’ve gotten super excited over the idea of subscription boxes! It’s the hot new trend where different retail companies will gauge your interests and send you products based on what you like. Usually the format is that you pay a certain amount every month and each month you get a package. Here’s a few companies that any collegiette will love:

Naturebox

Naturebox is a company centered around giving you healthy snacks for your busy day without inconveniencing you. You can choose various snacks that range from figgy bars to granola to rice crackers to chocolate-covered almonds to dried fruit. Whether you want salty or sweet, they cover every tastebud range. Maybe have Naturebox send your package to your workplace so you’ll always have something nutritious and delicious at the office! Their boxes start at $19.95 a month for 5 full size bags.

Birchbox

Love trying on new makeup, but don’t know where to start? Birchbox has you covered. For just $10 a month, Birchbox can send you various products such as hair spray, BB cream, perfume, moisturizer, or eyeliner from well-established and indie brands. Birchbox also has an online store for what they send you so if you really like the brand of nail polish you got, you’ll always have a supply. Want to subtly manscape your man? You can send him a Birchbox of his own!

Barkbox

If you treat your dog better than most humans, then Barkbox is definitely for you. Barkbox supplies you with the best treats and toys for your pooch. The dog treats are made with high quality ingredients and the toys are dog tested. Even better, ten percent of Barkbox’s proceeds go to animal shelters and dogs in need. Get your pup a monthly gift starting at $19.95 a month.

Hello Flo

Hello Flo is dedicated to making your period as easy as possible, and you might have heard of them through their hilarious Camp Gyno ad last year. You can customize your box based on your, ahem, “flow”: your choice of tampons or pads, even if you want to use organic cotton materials. Also, in every box there’s always a treat or two to keep you feeling your best. Hello Flo is also partnered with ZanaAfrica, which is dedicated to giving school-aged girls sanitary products. Monthly subscriptions start as low as $17 per month.

Julep

There’s a subscription box for everything, so why not one for nail polish? Julep is an established beauty brand, mostly known for their adorable tubes of polish. You can take a style quiz and according to the results you’ll be classified as profiles such as Classic, Bohemian, or It Girl, which will help them tailor different colors for you. Once you become a “Julep Maven” as they call it, you also receive the benefit of free shipping 20 percent off their online store at all times! Boxes start at $19.95 a month, but you can get your first Welcome Box free with the promo code FREECOLOR.

There are so many different types of subscription boxes these days that it isn’t hard to find one you’d love. Do you have any other box suggestions? Let us know in the comments!
