Name: Seth Moore
Year: FreshmanÂ
Major: UndeclaredÂ
Hometown: South Pasadena
HCO: How did you get the opportunity to attend the Oscars this year?
My father directed the movie Wreck-It Ralph, which was nominated for best animated feature. He flew me down to Los Angeles so I could attend the Oscars with him.
HCO: Did you talk to anyone in particular? If so who/what about?
My dad introduced me to other directors of animated movies that were nominated as well such as Peter Lord who directed Pirates! Band of Misfits and Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman who directed Brave. I also talked to Dan Janvey, the producer of Beasts of the Southern Wild and Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama.
HCO: What was your favorite part of the Oscars?
I would have to say my favorite part was either Shirley Bassey performing Goldfinger or just the feeling of being star struck in general. The whole thing was such a different experience for me.
HCO: What did you think of Seth Macfarlane’s performance hosting?
I actually really enjoyed his performance hosting the Oscars and it seemed as though everyone in the audience enjoyed it as well from what I could see.
HCO: What did you think about some of the controversial sketches done for example the song about women’s nudity?
I honestly wasn’t surprised that he made some controversial jokes and sketches because that’s his style of comedy. I could see why it would offend others but it seemed completely harmless.
HCO: Do you hope to get into the movie making business? If so, who do you look up to?
I don’t think I would want to follow in my dad’s footsteps and become a director, but maybe someday I’ll work in a field closely related to it.
HCO: Do you have a celebrity crush/bromance? If so, who?
After seeing her in person, I would have to say that Jennifer Lawrence is my new celebrity crush. Ryan Gosling is my bromance because who doesn’t like Ryan Gosling?
HCO: What is your favorite movie/why?
This is always such a tough question to answer, but as a kid I watched the movie My Neighbor Totoro an excessive amount of times and it’s still one of my favorite movies today.
HCO: Are there any Oscars awarded that you feel were or weren’t well deserved?
Not to sound biased, but I definitely think Wreck-It Wralph should have won over Brave for best animated feature. Besides that, I was just more surprised than anything about the amount of awards that Life of Pi was awarded.
HCO: How did you react to Jennifer Lawrence’s graceful trip on stage?
To be honest, I had no idea she had tripped until she had said something about it during her speech.
HCO: What are some of your hobbies?
I like to play basketball at the rec center and beat my friends in old school video games on my Nintendo 64.
HCO: What’s on your bucket list?
Skydiving is definitely on my bucket list, but I haven’t spent too much time thinking about it.
