Not Your Average Pop Group: Terror Jr

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Terror Jr may not be a commercialized music group…yet. The group just recently began dropping their records earlier this year. Terror Jr describes themselves as an “American Pop Trio.” Despite the term ‘pop’ begin over-used on literally every radio station, Terror Jr transforms your idea of what you think pop is, into their own critically redefined genre. Producers, Felix Snow and David “Campa” Singer-Vine accompany vocalist Lisa, in what really appears to be, the future pop trio everyone should be talking about. Terror Jr started gaining pop-culture buzz when rumors began that Kylie Jenner was leading the group in vocals masked as “Lisa.” These rumors came from the group’s big hit, “3 Strikes” being featured in Jenner’s music video Lip Gloss campaign. However, Kylie Jenner, via a snapchat post, denied the rumors of being involved with the group. Now with Terror Jr on the map of pop-culture news, people had the opportunity to hear what else the trio has to offer. “Say So,” “Come First,” “Sugar” and “Pray” are just some of Terror Jr’s hits. They recently released a musical project called “Bop City” as of October 21, 2016.

Think of Kiiara, The Chainsmokers, even a little remix of Diplo possibly influenced into some records. If platforms like BuzzFeed and Teen Vogue have only just begun to feature Terror Jr, this truly means that sky’s the limit for this incredible trio. So, while your friends are road-tripping to the ridiculously infectious beats from Terror Jr, do yourself a favor and YouTube some of their music. Why stop there, Google the pop group. Get to know them. New music is out there; you don’t have to be stuck listening to the same five songs on the radio. With groups like Terror Jr, their success is enhanced by their passion for creativity, their non-conformal ideals of pop music, and really, their ability to produce amazing music. If you’re a multi-tasking student who needs some sort of music to play when you hit the books for finals, then Terror Jr is perfect for a quick two-minute dance party at Knight Library. Happy Jamming!
