It is officially the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. Here’s to the cliche, but always inspirational saying “new year, new me.” The new year comes with new sights, new movies, new experiences, and the latest trends. Especially when it comes to makeup. Now, I’m not saying that I’m an expert on makeup. However, I have been seeing new trends throughout the year while in college and from social media, basically known as “the glossier look.” Yes, Glossier is a makeup company that has been trending for their natural looks, but specific trends stemmed from those looks are gaining more popularity in 2020. Many people have goals of staying hydrated, exercising more, eating healthier or being more productive. This year’s goal for makeup is within these six trends.

Skincare

Skincare is one of the most essential part of getting that glow, dewy natural look and taking care of your skin helps enhance the makeup even more. Many people now, such as myself, add a skincare routine alongside their makeup routine to get that fresh-faced makeup look that is easy and simple to achieve because of the hydrated and cleansed canvas that you can work with.

Iridescent Eyeshadow

Iridescent Eyeshadow is another common trend in 2020 because of the natural yet bold pop to the eyes. It comes in different shades such as lilac, pink and many more. What I like about it, in particular, is that it gives a hint of shimmer to the eyes in such a subtle way, which kind of looks like the shimmer effect in Snapchat or Instagram filters.

Strong Brows

Although this trend, in particular, has been going strong for quite some time now, this year had a slight change of style in them called feathered brows. It is the same as the past years of fuller, bolder brows. But with more of a natural, softly feathered effect. This is usually done with brow gel.

Tinted Foundations

Water-based foundations and tinted moistures have become of the base of makeup. With a natural base that is not too caky and shows just the right amount of what’s behind all the art – a person.

Pre-Highlight

Now I know I said skincare is the most important. But with 2020 and the new changes in trends, people are skincare products with makeup. Many people are using serums in their foundations. There products like a liquid highlighter that will give you a robust blinding highlight to rid of all the haters. But, I found a trick that a lot easy than having to buy a liquid highlighter or just if you don’t have it. I mixed a hydrating serum and powder highlighter to give off the same blinding highlight as a liquid highlight and it also hydrates your skin, which is definitely a plus.

Glossy Lips

My lip gloss is popping, my lip gloss is cool and the gloss lip trend is back and here to stay. Glossy lips are the new, but old look for 2020 and I am here for it. Imagine a tinted gloss with a hydrating lip balm. Products like this give a glassy finish to make your lips look fuller, feel hydrated and ultra-shiny.

This year is all about being natural and embracing you with all your imperfections and makeup perfections. It’s about shining bright with confidence, like with your makeup look and showing 2020 that you can succeed.
