Music Festivals You Have to Attend Before You Graduate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

If you’re like me, festival season is your favorite time of the year. There’s nothing like an entire carefree weekend filled with good music and good vibes – you literally can’t find it anywhere else. Trying to figure out which music festival you and your squad are going to take on next? With some personal insight and little bit of research, I’ve weeded out the top five music festivals you should go to before you graduate… or at least once in your life.

5. Electric Zoo

When: June 1-3, 2018

Electric Zoo is held in Randall’s Island, New York City, and is debatably one of the best venues that I have ever been to. The organization of this festival is out of this world and it is so easy to get from stage to stage. If you’re into electronic music, this festival is for you. Year after year, they have the best of the best in the electronic genre, giving you some funky tunes to get down to all night.

4. Coachella

When: April 13-15, 2018 or April 20-22 2018

Although I have never been to Coachella and probably never will go, this is arguably the most highly anticipated event during festival season. Set right in the middle of the desert in Indio, California, this festival brings the heat (both literally and figuratively). This is one of the most sought-after festivals in the U.S. and the line-up has yet to disappoint.

Beware: these tickets are P-R-I-C-E-Y so start saving now or be extra nice to your parents.

3. Bonnaroo

When: June 7-10, 2018

This festival is definitely next on my list. Bonnaroo has been deemed a non-stop party and it deserves that label. This is not just a festival, but it is a full experience- it offers a wide range of activities like yoga and a 5K if you’re not already exhausted from jamming out all day. If you’re looking for a weekend of music and community experiences, Bonnaroo is your next festival.

2. Lollapalooza

When: August 2-5, 2018

Lollapalooza is arguably one of the most organized and well put together festivals that I have ever attended. It is set right in the middle of Chicago on a huge plot of greenery, otherwise known as Grant Park. The feeling of being in a little musical utopia while the craziness of the city is going on around you is an unforgettable feeling. Not to mention, the line-up offers the best artists from every possible genre- this is a festival you cannot miss.

1. Sasquatch! Music Festival

When: May 26-28, 2018

This festival has earned the number one spot on this list because if you go to the UO and have not been to this festival- What are you doing!?!? I’ve deemed Sasquatch! as quite possibly the most photographable festival in the world. If you’re a Duck like me, you absolutely need to make your way to this festival sometime during your four years here. The setting is nothing short of epic and a sunset set at the main stage is something you’ll never forget. Not to mention, the only option for sleeping arrangements is camping so the party pretty much never stops.
