HCO: How old were you when your first started dancing?

I started dancing when I was 12 years old, with Phenomenon Dance Company, which was started by Vanessa Martin. That introduced me to learning choreography, and being part of a team dynamic, which was great because everyone was very welcoming. It was hard because I had never taken dance lessons before or worked with someone else’s choreography, but I immediately loved it.

HCO:Do you have a particular style of dance that you love the most?

Mostly I just love performing! But I love doing hip-hop, because it covers so many different types of movement and is always fun to watch. I also love doing anything that is sassy and lets me flirt with the audience.

HCO: What is one thing people might not know or realize about dance culture?

It really brings everyone together; dance and music can bring so many different types of people into contact with each other, and you can build a little community everywhere you go just by having a love of dance in common.

HCO: Favorite pump up song at the moment?

“Hey Porsche,” by Nelly. I didn’t even recognize him when I first heard it, and now I’m in love with it! I play it every morning when I’m driving to work or school.

HCO: Aside from Kings Krew, what else do you enjoy doing? Any favorite hobbies or activities?

I’ve been in different groups, Phenomenon, dance team in high school, and Jam Squad, but right now I’m mostly concentrating my creative skills on crafts! I love being able to make things and give them to people or just put things up in my room.

HCO: And finally, if you had to eat at one restaurant that’s near campus for the rest of college, where would you choose?

Beppe and Gianni’s, because I love Italian food. That would be so bad for me, but since this is a hypothetical question, I’m going for it.
