I’ve really been loving the amount of red that has been appearing as of late. It seems that everywhere you look, celebrities and classmates alike have been sporting every shade of this flattering and fashionable hue. Typically I would shy away from such a bold color, but seeing it worn so many ways has made me realize that basically anyone can incorporate red into their wardrobe. With Valentines Day coming up, I was inspired to break out of the dreary winter hues and explore the wonderful world of red.

Red was the color of the night at the golden globes last week. Zooey Deshanel, Claire Danes, and Jennifer Lawrence were just a few of the many celebrities who rocked this notice me color. A bright red dress or skirt is a perfect statement piece, and is guaranteed to make sure all eyes are on you.

A more subtle way to bring red into your wardrobe is by using darker hues. Colors like plum or maroon still mix things up, but provide a more casual look. A scarf of pair of leggings in one of these shades is unique, yet versatile enough to match what you already own.

If you aren’t up for red clothing, it’s a known fact that every girl should have the perfect shade of red lipstick. It’s an easy way to experiment with the color and dress up any outfit. Personally I love the shade ‘Fire Down Below’ by Nars, which was designed with the intent to be universally flattering.

No matter what way you decide to wear it, using the color red is the perfect way to update your wardrobe and keep the winter months from getting too dreary. Happy shopping collegiettes™!
