Major: Journalism

Hometown: Helvetia, Oregon

Relationship status: Seeking, and on the market.

Do you want to get married someday? Hell yes! And I want kids, but not too many, maybe two.

Favorite type of music: All music really. Early country mostly, Johnny Cash, and I like classic rock. Metallica, music that gets you pumped up and in a “metal mood.”

Hobbies: Fishing, shootings guns, snowboarding, photography, filmmaking, and motocross!

How long have you been riding motocross? 12-years. When I was six-years-old my friend, Danny Pihl, had a Honda 250 that I got to ride on this circle track at his house, and after that I begged my parents for a bike of my own and they said no, not until you’re a teenager, but then I ended up getting my first bike right before my 12th birthday.

Most memorable motocross race: The AMA National Arena Cross Tour. It was three races over the course of a weekend. My first two races I did great, smoked everyone on the track, then on that Sunday my last race I crashed, but it was one of my most successful weekends.

Second favorite past time, next to motocross: Spending time on my family’s island. My dad bought it back in the 1970’s, it’s in between the boarder of Canada and Washington near Ana Cortes, Washington, and I just love it there! You can camp go hiking, fishing and just live off the land.

What do you think your best quality is? I think that I am a loyal friend. I keep a small circle of friends; I think that when you have big groups of friends too much drama can circulate. I like to be there for my friends when they need me, make them dinner or sit down and talk things out with them when they are feeling down.

What do you hope to do after you graduate from UO? I love documentary filmmaking; I am currently working on documentary media for Flux and OR Magazine. I really want to start my own multi-media company. I want to start my own online magazine based on travel and media.

Serena Piper will always be a Southern belle at heart, but for now she is a Senior Magazine Journalism student at the University of Oregon. She is an avid news reader and watcher, loves to bake yummy desserts and watch Sex and the City reruns, has big travel plans for after graduation and would eventually like to work for National Geographic. She wouldn't mind one bit if her life echoed Elizabeth Gilbert's in Eat, Pray, Love. To find out what Serena is up to, check out her blog and follow her on Twitter
