School is in full swing, homework is already drowning us, walking to class feels like 10 miles, mornings are getting colder and putting in our headphones to drown out the world is becoming a habit. If you’re heading into midterms, want some songs to distract you while doing homework or just want to listen to some new music, give these a listen.

1. HIGHEST IN THE ROOM – Travis Scott

This song may seem more like a hype, going out song, but it’s oddly motivating and puts me in a focused mood. I love how it has the classic Travis feel with just a little mellower tone and beat. Maybe I’m biased because I’m a huge Travis fan but it’s definitely worth a listen.

2. Norman f**king Rockwell – Lana Del Rey

Okay if you’re deciding what songs to choose from this album, just save yourself the time and add them all. This album is so easy to listen to when you are doing homework, walking to class, or riding in the car after a long day. I still have yet to pick a favorite but I think my top have to be the classic “Norman f**king Rockwell, “How to disappear” and “Cinnamon Girl.” Just beware because this album brings out the most emo person, but in the best way.

3. Salt And The Sea – The Lumineers

Warning, this is another emo trigger. I can’t speak highly enough of this song. At first I only listened to “Life in the City” the most popular song from the III album by the Lumineers. But once I started to listen to it more, this song melted my heart. Definitely a song to put you in a good, relaxed mood.

4. TROJAN HORSE- Sebastian Paul

One of my best friends told me about Sebastian Paul and the vibe of the music puts me in such a good mood. It’s one of those songs that has the perfect beat drop that’s not too heavy but makes you just want to sway back and forth.

5. Lights Up – Harry Styles

Our teenage crush, our icon, our God, Harry Styles. Let’s be real, this song may not have the most iconic beat or lyrics but like it’s Harry Styles so how can you not like it? His voice sounds very smooth in this which makes it so easy to sing and dance along to.

6. LEMONHEAD- Kid Bloom

The vibe of this song feels a little older, with the electric guitar in it which is why I love it. It has a nice blend of rock and cute boy band. It reminds me of a more upbeat version of The 1975. Overall, a perfect song for any occasion.

7. Rollin’ Stone- Kyle Lux

Kyle Lux is a smaller artist that has such an amazing alternative R & B style. He has a similar sound to Miguel, with soft beats and light rap. Rollin’ Stone is not his newest song but it is still recent. His latest song, “Say It’s Fine” is also a must-add.

8. Sauce- Remi Wolf

Remi Wolf’s music is so unique and edgy but so easy to jive along to. It has a good balance of techno and more traditional alternative sound. Also, if you happen to look at her Spotify bio, please read it because it’s hilarious and sums up her personality, which is very prevalent in her music.

9. Be Mine – Amandla Stenberg

This song is so soothing and has such a tranquil sound. I found this song off the “Euphoria” soundtrack which you should take a full listen to. I promise you won’t regret it.

10. Mount Everest – Labrinth

Just when you are so tired of studying, work, whatever it is, this song makes you feel like you are a badass about to summit something greater than well… Everest. Even though it has a slower beat, you can listen to it in any situation.

I hope these songs can help you get through the long days and even longer nights… Happy October, happy listening and happy study season! I know all you badass babes got it.
