Campus Cutie: Stacey Kim

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OR State chapter.

Name: Stacey Kim

Year: Done with undergrad in SEVEN weeks!! Masters & Doctorate degree, here I come.

Major/Minor: Human Development & Family Sciences; Options in both Early Childhood Development & Human Services

Hometown: Beaverton, Oregon

Relationship Status: Working on becoming the best version of myself until my Knight in Shining Armor arrives ;)

This week’s Campus Cutie is this sweet girl Stacey! Read on to find out more about this awesome girl.

HC at Oregon State: What is your favorite fall essential?

Stacey: Anything comfy, but specifically a big, poofy, warm vest or long leggings and socks.

HC at Oregon State: Why did you pick OSU?

Stacey: Long story short, I got rejected by two schools prior to my acceptance at OSU. With that, on the night of my 18th birthday, I distinctly remember receiving a congratulatory email from the school via my new smart phone at the time. Four years and almost a term later, I am now on my way to earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Sciences! Needless to say, everything happened for a reason and I’m so incredibly thankful that Oregon State University has been a part of my journey.

HC at Oregon State: What is your favorite hobby?

Stacey: Utilizing my creative juices as often as I can. I am a pianist of about 17 years, a self-taught vocalist for as long as I can remember, and a guitarist of 5 years. I have a longer list of instruments I’d still like to learn! In addition, I write and compose original songs whenever I have the time. Otherwise, I love helping families and spending intentional time with children.

HC at Oregon State: Hot or cold weather?

Stacey: It varies; if it gets too hot to the point where I can’t breathe outside, then I’ll constantly be wishing I was in an igloo. On the other hand, if it’s too cold to the point that I’m unwilling to move from the comfort of my bed, then I’ll just stay in bed, haha. All that is to say, I enjoy the presence of sunlight with a slightly warm and crisp temperature outside.

HC at Oregon State: Who is a role model of yours and why?

Stacey: As a woman of Christian faith, my one and only ‘role model’ is the big man upstairs. If you don’t know Him, in my personal opinion, His son Jesus is pretty cool. I’m inspired everyday by His lessons, and the grace and challenges I’m given for the purpose of molding me into the person I was meant to be.

HC at Oregon State: What is your style?

Stacey: If we’re talking about clothing, anything light in weight and comfortable is my thing. At this point in my life, I’ve stopped caring whether or not the outfit fully matches. Granted, there are some days that I’ll put in the effort; those are the days when I’ll take into account the status of my outfit being cute. But also, the only time I’ll make exceptions for uncomfortable attire (like squishing my toes in heels) are professional events and, occasionally, church.

HC at Oregon State: Dresses or Pants?

Stacey: I’m going to have to go with leggings or yoga pants – they’re more comfortable :).

HC at Oregon State: Scarves or Boots?

Stacey: CUTE BOOTS!!

HC at Oregon State: What is your go-to daily outfit essential?

Stacey: A diamond cross ring from Ben Bridge that I was gifted from my parents, sisters, and brother in law on my 21st birthday, a year ago. Not only does the jewelry serve as a reminder of my faith, the five diamonds also represent each member of my immediate family. It’s a very special ring that I intend to wear until the man I marry places his symbolism of commitment on my finger (much, much later down the road).

Say Hello to Stacey if you happen to see her around campus, and stay tuned in for next week’s Campus Cutie!
