Now that fall has officially set in and Oregon is back to its rainy, cold weather, it is time to switch up your skin care routine. With all of this cold weather drying out your face, here are a few helpful tips to take care of your skin without damaging it!
1.Use a face lotion with SPF
The biggest thing you have to worry about during the cold weather is dry skin. Finding a good face lotion with an SPF is super important! Most people don’t think about the sun still being a threat when there’s lots of cloud cover. However, even when it’s cold and/or snowing, the sun is still there and shielding your face from the sun is skin care 101.
2. Don’t use alcohol-based toners
Alcohol based toners can be very harsh on your skin, especially during the cold weather days when your face is already dry. Instead of using toners with alcohol, try and find some that are alcohol-free!
3. Find a good chap stick
Finding a good chap stick is the best and probably cheapest thing you can do to help your face stay healthy during cold weather. When fall and winter hit, it’s easy to forget to take care of your lips. Make sure the next time you are shopping you go by the makeup section and find a few chap sticks that have a good moisturizer in it to keep chapped lips away!
4. Unscented tissues
While using unscented tissues isn’t t directly skin care, it is really important for when the Oregon weather fully sets in. The cold weather makes almost everyone have the sniffles, and using scented tissues can irritate your already dry skin. When shopping for tissues find a box without scent and preferably with a lotion aspect in them. This will help your nose not become as red when you’re already annoyed about battling a cold!
Everyone knows that Oregon weather can be unpredictable at best, so make sure you’re prepared no matter what this cold season brings. Your skin will thank you if you follow even one of these helpful tips!
