Thoughts From an Organic Chemistry Lecture

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

Ah, Organic Chemistry…every science major’s worst nightmare. Nothing says orgo quite like a constant state of confusion & never ending pile of work.

1. Okay, today’s the day. I’m gonna understand the lecture, I can feel it.

2. Alright, naming compounds, I got this. Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

3. Another reaction??? Haven’t we learned enough of these yet??

4. Okay wait, WHAT?

5. Why do I feel like the ONLY one who has no clue what’s going on!!

6. Why do all these mechanisms look the exact same??

7. Okay fine let me start my To-Do list…let’s see: prelab, lab report, online homework, written homework…How am I supposed to get this all done with only 24 hours in a day??

8. ‘Any questions?’ I don’t even know what I don’t know!

9. Ouch my brain.

10. Better get started on this pile of homework…

I hope some of my fellow science majors can relate & got a few laughs out of this! Whatever doesn’t kill us makes us stronger…right??

HCXO,

Emily
