A Taste Of Fall In Oneonta

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

Now that the fall season is officially upon us, it’s acceptable to go apple picking, pumpkin picking etc. While we may think there is not much to do in the wonderful town of Oneonta, we’re wrong! In fact, it’s just the opposite. Fall in Oneonta is beautiful, so we should take advantage. I created a list of a few fun activities you can do on the weekends to take a break from homework.

Fly Creek Cider Mill

This cute lil’ mill is located about thirty-five minutes outside of Oneonta. Here you can find an array of spices, spreads, flowers, vegetables, ciders, gourmet & specialty foods, and more! The fresh cider and donuts are top notch and something everyone should try. Not to mention food samples—who doesn’t love a good sample?

Night Terrors Haunted Farm

Bored on a Saturday night? Try visiting a haunted house! Night Terrors Haunted Farm is about 45 minutes from Oneonta- I think it would be worth it. Personally, I love haunted houses; I think it adds to the Halloween season. What’s awesome about this attraction, is that its outdoors. If you really want a scare, this is the place is for you.

Apple Hills

Want to find the perfect apple? Visit Apple Hills in Binghamton! Although it’s located an hour away, this can be a fun afternoon activity with friends or family. This attraction is a family farm and offers fresh and delicious apples as well as other fruits. What’s also cool about this farm is that it has a little café! If you get hungry, be sure to stop by after.

Pick a Pumpkin Patch

Of course if you go apple picking, pumpkin picking is a necessity. Pick a Pumpkin Patch is about 50 minutes from Oneonta. Not only can you pick pumpkins, but you can also see farm animals, go on hayrides, and get lost in a corn maze! This is the perfect activity for families and friends. They continue to add new activities, as well as participating in old favorites. This year happens to be their 30th anniversary, so why not celebrate with them?!
