Procrastinating During Finals Week: Summed UP By the Cast of “Friends”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

The few weeks after Thanksgiving & before Christmas are always the worst when you’re in college. The constant reminder that soon enough you’ll be home for break is enough to motivate any college student. Now, the thought of sitting in the library for hours on end to get to that point? Not so much. If you’re like me, you’ll want to put everything off until the very last minute. The cast of Friends summed these feelings up perfectly:

1. Coming back & looking forward to the holidays after Thanksgiving break to then check Blackboard & realize you have more assignments due than you have days left to do them.

2. Complaining to your roommate after realizing you have a ten-page paper, two presentations, and three projects all due within the next two weeks.

3. Sitting in your bed thinking about all of the work you have to do but how you don’t have any motivation to start.

4. The face you make while calculating the lowest possible grade you need to get on your final project to still get an A in the class.

5. After actually attempting to start your paper, reading the instructions, and realizing you have no idea what the paper is even on.

6. Taking just a short break to recover from all of the work you just did because you earned it.

7. Taking another break because again, you earned it (AKA working on anything and everything besides what you actually should be).

8. Realizing that four hours have gone by and you have accomplished 0% of your work.

9. After finally finishing the first page of your paper; one down, only nine left to go!

10. Within minutes of completing one page of work, deciding to celebrate your accomplishments with your roommate. Clearly, all of that work made you both hungry.

11. Having a completely irrelevant conversation in order to avoid your work.

12. Desperately wishing you could be home on your couch with zero responsibilities.

13. The day before your final paper is due and your roommate asks you, “Are you seriously just starting this now?”

14. Counting the hours spent lying in bed watching Netflix instead of working on your assignments.

15. Your roommates reactions after counting the hours you’ve spent napping instead of working.

16. That face you make when you finally give in and start actually working after being told to stop watching Netflix…for the 14th time.

17. When you finally get started and work for the next four hour straight with zero breaks. 18. That moment of relief after you finally submit everything and can go home.

Best of luck during finals week! You’ve got this.

……I’ll be there for you.

HCXO,

Jen
