So, HCers, this week I was a little bit stuck on finding a topic to share with you guys. I searched for some inspiration with my friends and classmates, but nothing really stuck. To let it sink in a little, I turned to my default boredom and procrastination activity: browsing my Google Reader.
For those of you who don’t know how it works, Google Reader lets you take the links from newsfeeds all over the web and organize everything in one place. It’s got tons of amazing features like tagging and re-blogging. Unfortunately, I’m no tech-whiz, so I usually stick to the basics. I grab up the sites I want to read from every morning and scroll through as I’m eating cereal or heating up some leftover Chinese. I figured I’d share my favorite websites with you guys. These make me think, laugh, and give a little brightness to my day. Hope you guys enjoy!
For all the latest pretty products:
http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/
The primary writer for the site, Karen, is fun and brilliant, giving all the latest info on new make-up products and trends. She’s always entertaining and gives the best tips on new lines coming out soon.
If you’re feeling deep:
www.postsecret.com
I’m addicted. People send in postcards of their deepest secrets, some shallow, and some complex. But most are inspiring. People tell stories of overcoming loss, secret affairs, etc. They get updated every Sunday, and I particularly find hope in the good in people.

Little bits of wisdom are great to make my day better—and to make me feel smarter! These quotes are perfect for insight into my life and how to deal with problems. Or even just to think about something new.
For worldwide updates:

I’m usually really bad at keeping up with important things going on in the world, but this makes it easy. Every once in a while, I jump into the quick, descriptive headlines so I can get a fast glance at the current events. They make things simple, and most importantly for me, extremely understandable.
When you need a laugh:
http://notalwaysright.com/
“(The Customer Is) Not Always Right” has hilarious firsthand accounts of random amusing anecdotes people bring from their workplaces about stupidity, absent-mindedness, or just plain crazy. The tales will always make you giggle, I can promise that.
www.9gag.com
This website is stacked with pictures, comics, and other quick, fun stuff to make you giggle the entire morning. I have definitely spent a substantial amount of time on this site, because I love quick shots like this. Some of it’s a little different, but I love the reliability—there’s always something good.
