Hi!  I’m Abbey.  I love puns, art of any kind, and writing (duh).  I didn’t know how to start my first published article, so I decided to talk about the one thing that never fails to motivate me day-in and day-out: Netflix.

As a college freshman, I really don’t have as much free time as I’d like.  And I definitely don’t always want to spend my precious free time in front of a screen.  However, there will always be those moments in which a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.  This is a list for those days when you just can’t function anymore, and you need to turn off your brain for a little while.

Sitcoms are my best friends.  There, I said it.  They’re funny, smart, and only last around 20 minutes!  That is the perfect amount of time for folding laundry, getting on the treadmill (gross), or just sitting around like a lump on a log.  What do you do if you have a super boring, mundane task, and you just don’t see how you could possibly get through it?  Whip open that laptop and hit that Netflix tab.  (I know it’s already pulled up or saved in your bookmarks, don’t be ashamed.)

Some of you may be in need of some suggestions.  If so, never fear.  Abbey is here!  My top three favorites of all time are The Office, Parks and Recreation, and New Girl.  Please note that I am a lover of almost all sitcoms; these are just the ones that I always go back and revisit when I’m feeling nostalgic.  These are those shows that you buy laptop stickers for.

The Office is by far one of the funniest and most cringe-worthy shows you will ever watch.  It is awkward, dry, and just plain painful to watch; it will completely steal your heart.  If you haven’t experienced the joy of watching Scott’s obnoxious antics or Jim and Pam’s adorable romance, stop everything you’re doing, and go watch it now.  The first season can be a little slow, but once you get into the swing of things, you will finally understand why everyone is obsessed with it (myself included).

Parks and Recreation is a masterpiece created by the same people who made The Office.  It’s super smart, super cute, super funny.  Leslie Knope is one of the most passionate and loving people I’ve ever seen, and the characters themselves make up such a tight-knit family.  I’ve never seen a show that embodies more girl power than Parks and Rec.  If you’re more of a slapstick humor kinda gal, this is the show for you.

New Girl is another 20 minute friend that will easily help you waste time.  Jess is an awkward elementary school teacher who moves in with three random dudes.  Obviously, hilarity ensues.  It is absolutely perfect for both regular watching and background noise for other tasks.  New Girl is more of a mixture of both slapstick and dry humor.  10/10.

Obviously, I probably spend more time on Netflix than I should.

    Oh well.
