Ariana Grande-Butera, more widely known as the hit pop singer, Ariana Grande, released her new hit single ‘7 Rings’, on January 17th, 2019. Stunning in fancy lingerie and surrounded by expensive items, cars, champagne, and pink lights, Ariana takes us to our fantasy, where someone can buy anything a heart desires:

“I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it”

The inspiration for her new single was a tipsy purchase with her gal pals after her huge breakup with ex-fiance, Pete Davidson. It seems that this song is Ariana’s musical self-medication that she decided to share with the world after a stressful time happened in her life.

Departing from her previous cheery pop styles and soulful inflection, Ariana Grande takes her artistry to the next level as she pursues a musical cross between hip-hop and rap. Compared to her more reflective message from her previous release, ‘Thank U, Next’, the new ‘7 Rings’ has an attitude that commands respect through her status. Ariana Grande’s new single trended number one on YouTube just a day after its release but has gotten backlash from the general public. Some have accused the star of stealing her new musical interpretation from Soulja Boy’s ‘Pretty Boy’. There have been articles posted on the controversy between some other artists and cultures who feel like Ariana has stolen their brand of style, and in some ways, appropriated their culture.
