Ever since I was 13 and added mascara to my daily routine, I have always been asked, “Are your eyelashes real?” I had never been more proud to receive such a compliment that someone thought my eyelashes were unbelievably real. Ever since then, I became obsessed with mascara and maintaining my eyelashes. Over the years I’ve come up with a few tricks and tips to keep my eyelashes looking long and full, and I’m about to spill the tea, sis.

  1. The Hairdryer Trick

This is one of my favorite tricks to use whenever my eyelashes are not cooperating, and they are getting clumpy. All you have to do is take a hairdryer and put it on a low, warm setting (not hot), and blow your eyelashes upwards. While doing this, take your mascara and gently apply it, pushing your eyelashes upwards. They will dry straight up very fast, and the more it drys, the more you can apply and adjust your individual eyelashes into the position you want them. This way you don’t have to wait for your eyelashes to just fall flat as they dry. It is also a miracle in working out clumps if you have the right kind of mascara wand.

  1. The Eyelash Curler

This trick is one that is pretty commonly used. What you do is take an eyelash curler and use your hairdryer to warm it up. Do not use full heat, because the metal can heat up super fast and that can damage your eyelashes. If you warm up your eyelash curler and hold it on your lashes there for about 10 seconds, it will curl them much better and hold them up much longer.

  1. What Mascara I Recommend

One of my favorite mascaras to use is CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume. This mascara comes in an orange tube, and how a very sturdy wand with long, strong bristles. Another one of my favorite mascaras is Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara. This mascara is pretty pricey, so as a broke college girl, I only use it on special occasions, but I think it is one of the absolute best when it comes to making your eyelashes pop!

  1. Makeup Remover

Simply taking off your mascara at night with makeup wipes can help your eyelashes stay healthier and less damaged. Many people wash their makeup off in the shower with soap, but this can dry out eyelashes and make them more prone to fall out. Of course, like any person, an eyelash or two will fall out every day or so when you take off your makeup, but using makeup wipes instead of soap can make all the difference when keeping your eyelashes full and voluminous.

  1. VASELINE

If you’ve stuck around this long, then you are fortunate, because I’m about to divulge my biggest eyelash secret. Ever since I was a little kid, my mom always told me that putting Vaseline on my eyelashes at night will make them grow long. By the time I was 13 and started wearing mascara, it became very evident as to what she was talking about. Now that I’m older and I have worn mascara almost every day of my life, my eyelashes get very dried out and damaged. Applying vaseline to your eyelashes about once or twice a week at night before you go to bed can help restore its natural oils and make them grow longer and healthier.
