What is it with people thinking they know you better thank you know yourself? If I took a shot for how many times I here these, I would be drunk on a daily basis. If you’ve been single most of your life you’ve heard these comments more than once!

Well, are you gay?

I’m pretty sure the LGBTQ+ community fighting for same sex marriage should make you rethink that question. (Side eye) Me not being in a relation has nothing to do with my sexuality. Please join the 21st century ASAP, you’re way behind my dear.

You must have commitment issues.

Since you seem to know me so well, why don’t you tell why I have those commitment issues. Please start by my childhood because that’s where the best stories start, you know, from the beginning.

You just haven’t met the right guy yet.

Oh great, you’re psyching! Since you know I haven’t met him yet than you must know who he is and when I will meet him.

Just get out there and meet someone!

Do you mean get out there and settle? You know what, not everybody is willing to settle with anybody they meet. Stop making me feel like being in a serious relationship is like picking out a leaf from a random tree. You don’t possibly know what’s right for me better than I do.

You’re just picky.

So what if I don’t want to settle to just have a boyfriend. Maybe I do read a lot of romance and watch too many romantic comedies, at least I know when a guy is not worth everything I’m willing to give.

You know, if you want to get married someday, you have to start looking in your early 20s.

Unhappily married auntie, how about I keep hustling to make my career goals come true first. As a matter of fact, my love life is none of your business.

Is it because you’re a feminist?

Please, mind you business!
