Everyone knows the famous rapper Nelly, he’s had countless song top the charts such as “Dilemma” and “Hot in Here” released in 2002 that helped boost his career. But has this news caused a bump in the road for the rapper’s future career.

On Saturday morning, October 17, famous rapper Nelly, 42,  was taken into custody behind rape charges in the second degree. A woman called 911 claiming that she was raped and assaulted by the rapper the same night while he was stopped in her city during his tour.

Nelly was released with no charges being filed against him and went to twitter to address his fans saying, “I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation. I am completely innocent. I am confident that once the facts are looked at , it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.”

Rapper Tip Harris, otherwise known as TI, weighed in on the topic and raised the point that false accusations are somewhat common amongst celebrities in an Instagram video. He stated that after the accused is found innocent why should the accuser be let off so easily. Celebrities have images to uphold and if they are falsely accused by someone should there be a punishment for the accuser?
