Things you really should have on your resolutions list this year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oklahoma chapter.

I’ve never been a fan of the phrase “New Year, New Me” but this year I am trying “New Year, Better Me.” 2020 is going to be a new year of personal growth and experiences. I’m not looking at changing anything about myself, but to improve myself.

Drink more water

Always-always drink more water. This rule will never get old. You’ve got more acne than usual? Easy, drink water. Headache? Drink water. Water is a simple fix to many things. So just do it. Drink more water.

Go to the gym more

Another cliché one, but this is one I am trying to focus on. Going to the gym has been helping me clear my mind at the end of a stressful day. Being a college student and working makes finding time for the gym hard, but make time for it. You don’t even have to do the more hard-core stuff. Just go for an hour at the end of your day-or the beginning if you’re a morning person.

Making a set schedule

This is also a more important one for me this year. Having a set schedule keeps me from wondering where and what I am doing later and feeling like I am forgetting something. It also makes it easier to make plans with your friends when you know when your free time is.

Making plans with friends

I try to spend some quality time with my friends at least once a week. This makes the really stressful week a little easier. Taking a break and having some quality time with the girls for dinner is the perfect escape for all of you.

Keep your hobbies alive and well

This kind of goes with the previous one. Finding time to do your hobbies every now and then will keep you from losing your spark in college. Sometimes, the homework, classes, studying, and work  get to be too much and become overbearing.

Don’t eat as much junk food

Its really easy to just throw in a microwavable meal every night but try to cook every now and then. Eating right will bring up your mental mood as well as drinking water. Try to cook at least a few times a week and pick more healthy things to eat than a microwavable pizza. Its not more expensive to buy ingredients for a meal to cook over a microwavable meal.

Hi, my name is Halea and I am a junior studying Professional Writing with a minor in Editing and Publishing at the University of Oklahoma. I quote Friends a tad too often, love spending time with my friends and family, and writing (naturally).
