A HUGE bombshell was dropped on Broadway fans this month when Universal Pictures announced a set date for a Wicked movie. The Movie is set to release December 22, 2021.
As a Broadway fangirl, I am HYPED about this movie. I have been listening to the soundtrack all day. Hopefully, my friends and family don’t get annoyed with me singing “Popular” every single day because that song is a serious earworm.
So far, based on this tweet we know that it will be directed by Stephen Daldry (Extremely Loud &Incredibly Close, The Crown), written by Winnie Holzman (My So Called Life), and produced by Marc Platt (La La Land, The Girl on the Train). No decisions seem to have been made about casting yet. In the meantime, we have the freedom to create our own personal dream casts! I think my dream cast would be Lea Michelle (Glee) as Elphaba and Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect) as Glinda!
