What’s wrong with Taylor Swift?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

By now most of us have probably figured out that Taylor Swift is a dating fiend, but does anyone know why she can’t hold down a man?

So far, her victims have been Joe Jonas, Lucas Till, Cory Monteith, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kyle McKinley, Conor Kennedy and most recently Harry Style.

There are a few reasons that come to mind when asked why Taylor Swift is a serial dater. It could be that she has security issues, is running low on material for a new album, gets lonely fast or a mix of all three.

I’m sure she has her reasons, but because we can’t ask her, I’ve come up with my own ideas. We have to look at the facts. She’s a celebrity, she’s been one for a while, but she was a typical American for several years before she ever became famous. Don’t you think that if you struck stardom, it’d be a little hard to not date every famous person you met? Most of them seem to be a little above average looking, and it’s probably safe to assume that they’re unusually charming.

Next, she’s traveling constantly. Long distance relationships tend to be hard for the average person. Try to imagine it for a celebrity who happens to be around attractive men constantly, while traveling most days out of the year. It’s probably not the most ideal situation for committed relationships.

Thirdly, she probably doesn’t want to keep a man. If you’ve listened to any of her songs, don’t you get the vibe that there’s a picture of her face next to the words, “hopeless romantic” in the Urban Dictionary? She probably likes the honeymoon part of relationships and wants out when things get too serious. Or maybe she chooses to date guys that feel that way. Aren’t most actors and musicians a little fickle?

Last but not least, she’s making a bajillion dollars off of her love life. She gets a lot of flack for it, but wouldn’t you be looking to get heart broken if it meant you were rollin’ in the dough? Why fix something if it isn’t necessarily broken?

It’s hard to tell if Taylor can’t hold onto a man or if she just doesn’t want to. Either way, it doesn’t seem to faze her.

I am a senior at Oklahoma State University. My major is Multimedia Journalism with a minor in leadership. I aspire to be a news anchor or work for a fashion magazine, I am honestly open to any kind of journalism though. I am the Her Campus correspondent for OSU. I interned for News on 6 in Tulsa, Okla this summer and I loved every second of it. Basically, I am just a fun-loving girl who loves her friends and family. The only expectations I have for the future is to be happy.
