Think, Think, Think!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

From the wise of words of Abraham Lincoln, we can see the importance of thinking first instead of doing or saying whatever we want to.

We’ve heard it all a million times before, “think before you say or do anything”, but do we really ever take this statement into account? I am guilty along with plenty other people who choose to speak or do something without thinking about it, and not comprehending the information. But we also have the no filter kind of people that continuously do the same actions.

The most important issue is what we end up doing or saying results in something bad. Texting and driving for instance is something we don’t think about, but do all the time. Also, saying something rude to someone we are friends with or family members. We see things happen all the time, and yet we don’t stop ourselves or others from doing it.

I want to encourage people to think before they do something stupid or something you might regret.  Our teachers and professors tell us all the time to apply the information we are learning, but must people ignore that. Once we finally learn how to apply information and think about it our lives will change dramatically.

I hope we can all change our ways of life, and become thinkers instead of doers.

There are so many good things that can come out of being thinkers. Thinkers are wise and know exactly what to say and do. Let’s all be wise and knowledgeable like Abe Lincoln so we can finally say that we are the kind of people that think before they do or say anything.
