Everyone’s favorite time of the year is underway! Football season officially begins with this seasons’ opener on Saturday at Boone Pickens stadium versus Savannah State. There are high hopes for this season. Especially after last season, there are even higher expectations. Coming from a season of a 12-1 record, Big XII Champions, Fiesta Bowl Champions and Head Coach of the Year; this year’s team has a big lead to follow. With that being said; a lot of people are questioning whether the Cowboys can live up to those standards without lasts years exceptional senior class. With key players such as Brandon Weeden, Justin Blackmon, Jaimie Blatnick and Richetti Jones now gone; how does our 2012 team really look?

“Definitely look out for a quarterback duo; with JW Walsh as a running quarterback and Wes Lunt as a throwing quarterback with the capability to move the ball quick; we have a definite strength there” said Justin Gilbert, OSU’s cornerback. “ We are also going to have a stronger defense than what people think; we may not be able to score points the way we did in the past but we will stop the other team from scoring”.
With a big smile on his face Gilbert said, “Be looking for lots of tricks and stunts; were out there to win games and have fun! That’s how we do!”

According to OSU Football Online some thing’s to look forward to are the debut of our “true” freshman quarterback, Wes Lunt and the offensive line with a ‘tradition’ to maintain. Joseph Randle and last years defensive MVP Justin Gilbert are also key players to be on the look for. With their talents and a strong team and coach to back them; Oklahoma State Football is guaranteed to succeed.

For the first time since 1977 the Cowboys are entering a season with a title to defend; even through the skepticism on defending that title without our outstanding 2011 key players, it won’t stop poke fans from packing Boon Pickens with OSU’s bright orange on game days!

I am a senior at Oklahoma State University. My major is Multimedia Journalism with a minor in leadership. I aspire to be a news anchor or work for a fashion magazine, I am honestly open to any kind of journalism though. I am the Her Campus correspondent for OSU. I interned for News on 6 in Tulsa, Okla this summer and I loved every second of it. Basically, I am just a fun-loving girl who loves her friends and family. The only expectations I have for the future is to be happy.
