Let One of The Most Successful Female Entrepreneurs Teach You About Sleeping Your Way To The Top

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

I used to get the most amazing sleep. A year ago I used to value sleep over literally everything else; and all that suffered was my social life but I was so happy and well-slept that I genuinely didn’t mind. But then I took a part time job working the front desk at a local hotel where my shifts were usually 3 days in a row until at least 10pm, and more often 11pm. Needless to say the schedule of going to bed before 10 pm that I had grown accustomed to was rudely interrupted and I haven’t ever caught back up to the feeling of being well-rested.

I know that sleep is important and I can feel the difference when I get a good amount of sleep and when I don’t. But until now I haven’t known all of the information and I had no way to track my sleep. That’s where The Sleep Revolution comes in!

Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of a publication you might have heard of (The Huffington post if that wasn’t obvious enough), has written a book called The Sleep Revolution that is chalked full of incredible facts and tips on sleep. It also challenges the idea that being exhausted means you’re working hard and at the top of your game.

This time of year, OSU students are the most sleep deprived. Cramming the night before a final or chowing on pancakes in the union keeps us up way too late and our grades might not be the only thing that’s suffering. This summer, learn to love your relationship with sleep, whether it’s the first time or again, like me, and educate yourself on the benefits you could be missing out on!
