At this year’s homecoming game, the OSU Cowboys were defeated 34-10 by the West Virginia Mountaineers. However, America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration still had some winners.

Football Frenzy, which had its final games on October 19, had two overall winners. In the Greek division, the team of Pi Beta Phi and Sigma Nu came in first. The Independents won for the Open Bracket. Second place for each division was Zeta Tau Alpha with FarmHouse for Greek Life, and The Villages for the Open Bracket.

The Sign Competition also announced winners on October 19. Mortar Board came in first for Student Organizations, Stout Hall came in first for Residential Life, Kappa Alpha Theta and Kappa Sigma came in first for Greek Life.

Another opportunity for organizations to show off homecoming spirit is the Harvest Carnival. This year’s carnival was held on October 21. Organizations set up booths with games for people to play, and then people could use the tickets they received when they entered the carnival to vote on their favorite booth. This decided the People’s Choice winners. The People’s Choice winners for each category were Pre-Vet Club for Student Organizations, Kerr-Drummond for Residential Life, and Zeta Tau Alpha and FarmHouse for Greek Life. There were also winners in each category decided by official judges. They were CASNR Ambassadors for Student Organizations, Kerr-Drummond for Residential Life, and Chi Omega and Phi Gamma Delta for Greek Life.

Another event that happened on October 21 was the Chili Cook-Off. Student Organizations winners were Alpha Phi Omega in first and Oklahoma Collegiate Cattlemen’s Association with the People’s Choice. Residential Life has CASNR Village and Bennett Hall tie for first, and The Villages with the People’s Choice.

Orange Reflections on October 24 had The Villages come in first. At the Homecoming game in October 25 Brandon Hubbard and Erin Scanlan were announced as Homecoming King and Queen for 2014.

For House Decorations on October 24, Chi Omega and Phi Gamma Delta won the Alumni Association Chairman’s Cup, as well as the Safety Award and Engineering Excellence Award. Sweepstakes winners were Omega Phi Alpha and Alpha Sigma Phi for Student Organizations, Bennett Hall for Residential Life, and Kappa Kappa Gamma and Lambda Chi Alpha for Greek Life.

Homecoming takes months and months to plan, and is over in the blink of an eye. The game may have been lost, but a lot of students, faculty, and alumni put a lot of effort into making the celebrations happen. That is what made Homecoming 2014 such a success. That is what makes Oklahoma State have America’s Greatest Homecoming Celebration.
