Favorite Spring Trends
For those of us on a college budget, dressing in warmer weather takes a load off our shopping visits. I always enjoyed shopping in the spring and summer because I thought it was easier to find half the clothing. I am here to give you my favorite spring trends. They may not be on InStyle’s “it list” of what’s in, but it will be sure to make you feel like the center of attention if you rock it right.
Remember these: Wedges, silk, dresses, over-sized bags….and color blocking! Yes, it’s back.

Color-blocking: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, color-blocking is here to stay. Disagree? Let’s save it for another day. This is the time to be bold! As I’m writing this, I can picture colors of marvelous pinks and yellows paired together, greens and corals, yellows and cobalt blue. Don’t know what I’m talking about? Hit up Google and type examples of color blocking, or simply “color blocking.”

I learned from one of my friends not to be so matchy-matchy and this is the way to do it with a minimal dash of flamboyancy.

Wedges: I use to have this perception of myself being 6 feet tall when I wore wedges, or any heel for that matter. Until one day my mom told me “Girl, you better wear your wedges!” I’m 5’5” so for some people I may be over exaggerating. The point is you can find these gifts from God anywhere. Wedges can make any ordinary dress from the office, casual and chick. Visit victoriasecret.com or if you’re on a college budget like myself, lulus.com for more examples. When picking out wedges pay attention to color. Make sure you purchase a shoe that won’t just be sitting in your closet, but that you will be able to pair with multiples outfits. However, there are those wedges with funky patterns that are bold and worth the purchase.

Dresses: I’ve never been a shorts wearer and never plan to convert. Dresses have been my go-to for the warmer months. Whether you prefer a maxi, strapless, short, long or tight-fitted summer dress, be sure to pair it with the right accessories. Adding massive shades, a simple gold Michael Kors watch and a jean vest to a maxi will make it that much more fun. Last but certainly not least, don’t forget those under garment ladies! Ask those who know me…I am the Spanx Nazi. I cringe at the thought of ladies not “smoothing everything” out under their dresses. I believe only smaller women are able to go commando. Sue me.

Over-sized bags: The first word that popped in to my mind is Aldo. However, you can find oversized bags just about anywhere. Neons are the color of the season if you’re looking for something to pop! Pair your over-sized tote with a simple ripped jean and wife beater or a maxi and be sure to feel bohemian chick!
