The Jonas Brothers are back together, Aly and AJ are going on tour, and Vanessa Hudgens recreated High School Musical scenes in a music video. I’m not sure what year we’re living in anymore, but I don’t really care. Everyone knows what Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato are doing, but what about the other Disney Channel alumni? I decided to check in with some of my favorite Disney stars to see what they were up to.
The Jonas Brothers
In case you’re currently living under a rock and haven’t heard, the Jonas Brothers have reunited and dropped a new song! The music video features the newlyweds Nick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Joe and his fiancée Sophie Turner, with Kevin and wife Danielle Jonas. I can’t wait to see what else they release! Aly & AJ
After leaving Disney Channel in the late 2000’s, Aly went on to star in the CW’s cheerleading drama Hellcats alongside Ashley Tisdale. AJ was featured in a couple episodes of Hellcats, but has now landed a major role in ABC’s The Goldbergs and its spin-off Schooled. Aly & AJ started releasing new music again in 2017 and just announced they would be going on tour this summer! In an interview, AJ revealed a new single would be released at the end of the month with an EP coming after. While you wait for their latest release, check out “Take Me” in case you missed it.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens has been one busy lady! She just finished performing in Fox’s RENT Live, starring in the Netflix Original The Princess Switch, and co-starring with Jennifer Lopez in Second Act. She has also judged the past two seasons of So You Think You Can Dance. To top it off, Hudgens has been featured on Shawn Hook’s “Reminding Me” and Phantoms’ “Lay With Me” where they recreated scenes from High School Musical. Watching it makes me so nostalgic.
Zac Efron
Zac Efron was most recently in the Ted Bundy movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. And while nothing has been confirmed, rumors have been circulating that he may be playing the Green Lantern in upcoming films. However, he recently shared on Instagram that he tore his ACL and had surgery. So, to my childhood crush, get well soon!
Corbin Bleu
He’s married! Corbin Bleu has been married to Sasha Clements since 2016. After his HSM days, Bleu guest starred on many TV shows but has since been focused more on stage acting. Bleu starred in Holiday Inn and even won an award for outstanding male dancer in a Broadway show. Currently, Bleu is starring as Bill Calhoun/Lucentio in Kiss Me, Kate. Apparently, he’s a musical singer person, not a hoops dude.
Ashley Tisdale
Ashley Tisdale was an executive producer of Freeform’s Young and Hungry which starred fellow former Disney star, Emily Osment. Tisdale also has a YouTube channel where she posts lots of makeup and beauty videos. She also does a series called Music Sessions with guests coming to sing acoustic versions of songs. She’s had Vanessa Hudgens sing “Ex’s and Oh’s” with her and Lucas Grabeel (AKA Ryan) sing “What I’ve Been Looking For.” She also released a new single called “Love Me & Let Me Go” earlier this year. Emily Osment
Emily Osment starred on Young and Hungry until the series concluded last year. On Twitter, she announced she’s now going back to release new music this summer for the first time in years. She’ll be singing under the alias Bluebiird and you can preview one of her new songs below.
Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff has been starring in Younger with Sutton Foster since 2015. And since 2015, Duff has not released any new music. However, two songs that didn’t make the cut for the 2015 album were recently leaked. Unfortunately, the mother of two has said she doesn’t have plans to record any new music at the moment. For now, we can just enjoy the leaked songs.
