Cowgirl Confessions: Juggling Junior Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

Coming back to the cowboy campus is always a thrilling experience because every year I can’t help but wonder how weekly routines will end up falling into place, what new interesting people I will meet or how nice my professors will be.
No matter how hard I try to anticipate how busy, or not busy, I will be, my daily routines always find their own way. This year I’m tackling down a part time job, 17 credit hours, and I am involved in numerous campus organizations (holder of the PR position for HSA and the Historian for LASA) Busy? Only if you consider starting my days before sunrise and getting back home when the sun is setting.
My past two years at OSU have taught me valuable lessons that will stay with me even after graduation. Organization and consistency are just two of them. These are the essentials that have gotten me through college alive. I don’t want to repeat what you have already heard from all of your teachers in the past month but trust me; they are speaking the truth. Going to class will keep you updated with the material that is more than likely to show up on exams, but more importantly- EXTRA CREDIT, which is what we all want at some point in the semester! Some professors will give you extra points at the end of the semester for attending class every day.
Going to class ever yday can also be rewarding because it will make you get out of bed and make the most out of your day. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy lying in my bed at the end of the day with a feeling of accomplishment. Attending class every day also gives you the wonderful opportunity to meet new people. Many people think that the only way to meet people is through doing extra-curricular activities but you can meet a lot of amazing people in the classroom, don’t be shy just put yourself out there!
Comparing my past two years at OSU to this year is very interesting. If I were to make a chart comparing my freshman and sophomore year with the beginning of my junior year, I could combine my responsibilities of the first two years and they would not even be close to matching up with my obligations this fall!
So, by now you might be wondering, what is keeping this girl sane? I have to say that my ultimate stress reliever is exercising. I go to the spin and toning classes Monday –Friday at the Colvin Center. And where exactly do you find this extra energy to work out? That is also a mystery to me!

I try to live day by day and enjoy the good and the bad, because I am a strong believer that everything happens for a reason!

Becca is an Oklahoma State University fashion journalism student. After she graduates in December, she wants to work for British Vogue. She believes that although a $1,200 sundress looks fantastic on the runway, there are less expensive alternatives to looking fabulous. Knowing how to shop on a budget is a vital skill for every college woman. She has recently completed a life-changing study abroad experience in London and a visual merchandising internship at White House Black Market in Dallas. Becca wants to show the fashion world that you can look beautiful without breaking the bank.
