Matt Fletcher has been the emcee for a majority of the OSU sporting events for the past several years.
He loves announcing for football, wrestling, tennis, and men and women’s basketball games.
“I got lucky by getting this job. Basically, I get paid to have fun.”, Fletcher said.
Fletcher enjoyed last year’s basketball season because that’s when people really started to get excited about the sport. He likes the games that everybody gets excited for—like bedlam and football homecoming. The energy of the crowd is what makes his job worthwhile and there’s never a dull day at work for him.
“While we do have a basic list of stuff I have to talk about every game, for the most part I’m not scripted. I just go out there and do my thing.” Fletcher explains.
While not having a script might stress out most people, Fletcher has never had any major mishaps. Although he did tell about one time when a commercial got cut short and he had to wing it for a few seconds—but that’s just part of the job.
Fletcher is excited to continue his career here at Oklahoma State and he encourages everybody to come out and support the Cowboys.
