2.     Can you tell us a little about Dance Marathon and what it does/is for?“OKState Dance Marathon is a year-long fundraising effort that benefits the Children’s Hospital. It was established at OSU 4 years ago and has become the campus’s largest philanthropy organization. Our team spends the year fundraising and hosting events so that we can announce our final total at our celebratory event in February where we stand for 12 hours! Many of the Miracle Children that are treated daily at the hospital come to the event so we get the opportunity to celebrate our total amount raised with them.”Â
3.     How did you get involved with Dance Marathon and what is your position?“I attended OSU’s first Dance Marathon where I fell in love with the event and the children that it benefits. I knew I had to be involved in a bigger way, so I applied for an executive position and have held numerous positions on the leadership team for the past 3 years. I currently serve as the Director of Outreach, and manage our marketing, public communication, and hospital relations.”Â
4.     What other organizations are you involved in and what’s your position?“I am an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and the Secretary of Mortar Board Honor Society. I am also involved with OSU’s Spears School of Business where I serve as a Scholar Leader. I am a regular volunteer for the Wings of Hope Family Crisis Center, the Girl Scouts of America Organization, and the Lauren Elise Foundation.”Â
5.     Personally, what drives you to be better?“My family is what drives me to be better every day. I am a first generation university student, which was made possible by my dad’s hard work and determination. He and my mom serve as my motivation for everything that I do. I also have two younger sisters that I strive to be a role model for. I want them to see that success is achievable, and to give them hope and motivation for their futures.”Â
6.     And what do you feel sets you apart from others?“I feel that my passion sets me apart from others. I don’t get involved with anything that I can’t pursue passionately and courageously. My passion and my motivation to be a hard worker has helped set me apart.”Â
7.     What are your passions and hobbies?“My passion is definitely children. Whether it be interacting with Miracle Children at Dance Marathon, nannying, or working at a daycare (formerly), I have always loved being around kids and making an impact on their lives. I look forward to being a mother one day and hopefully having a career centered around children. Some of my hobbies include hiking, going to the lake, and being outdoors. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, playing board games, reading, crafting and decorating. I also love riding my bike, traveling to interesting places, and cooking. I enjoy going out to eat at sushi restaurants and two-stepping.”Â
8.     Finally, what is your dream job?“My dream career would be working in a hospital and being able to interact and help children and other people on a daily basis.”
