The awful. The cold. The dreaded. DEAD WEEK. No matter where you are from, the week before finals week is one of the most dreaded times of the year. As classes come to a close, days in the library become longer and longer. THANKFULLY, there is a silver lining. Here are 3 reasons not to dread Dead Week at Oklahoma State.

1. A Break From Distractions

As awful as having nothing to do but study sounds, it can be refreshing. I know how distracted I can get when I’m trying to sit down and focus but have a million things to do on campus. With nothing else going on, you don’t have to feel guilty about not getting involved or dedicating your time to 100 other organizations. It’s just you, your textbooks, and all the time in the world.

2. You Are Not Alone

Everyone gets to be miserable all at the same time. Just imagine the bonding you will experience as you and a newfound study partner cry over the same final! Luckily, Oklahoma State is a large campus, with numerous people in the exact same boat as you. So don’t drown in your sorrows alone! Study in Café Libro or in the Student Union to ensure your success at finding someone just as terrified as you are.

3. Free Pancakes

Although this tradition doesn’t start until the beginning of Finals Week, free pancakes in the Student Union will be sure to motivate you through the week. As your never ending studies roll over into the next week, be sure to pick up your pancakes from 10pm-1am, Monday-Thursday of finals week. Until that glorious time comes, indulge on coffee at Caribou Coffee, open until 11pm Sunday-Thursday.

As you drag yourself back onto campus after stuffing yourself with the first home cooked meal you’ve had in months, remember to STAY STRONG. Together we can pull through dead week and crush our finals.
