Halloween is approaching faster and faster every year, I swear! Imagine: you just got invited to go to a fun, huge Halloween party with your closest friends. Your costume is picked out (even if it was last minute!), your hair is done, makeup is set in place, and you’re ready to go. Halloween parties are the best but with great parties comes great responsibilities- being safe, and not making a complete ass out of yourself. These five steps will definitely help you have the best time during your next Halloween party!

Wear a Costume

Okay, okay, this might be an obvious one but it is an important one! If you are invited to a Halloween party and you choose not to wear a costume… you better walk your booty out of that party! Can you imagine going to Neon Night and wearing all black? So uncool. Even if your costume is last minute- a costume needs to be worn! One of the best things about Halloween is being able to be anything or anybody that you want to be. Now, a costume should have some creativity as well. If you play softball for the Ohio University team, your costume should not be an OU softball player, even though the team totally rocks.

Stay in Character

It is vital to know the attitude or some representation of what your costume is like. You would hate to see a sad Disney Princess, wouldn’t you? There isn’t a need to constantly be your character but if you want the whole party to notice how sweet your costume is, it is important to be able to express your costume in as many ways as you can. If you’re an animal, know how to make that sound. If you’re representing a joke or meme- be able to act out and deliver it. If you’re impersonating somebody- break out their attitude and best impressions!

Don’t Just Sit There…Rattle Your Bones!

There is absolutely nothing as boring as going into a party with everybody sitting down and looking at their phones. Especially when people are in costume! Be a spooky skeleton and shake what your Mama gave you! As soon as you start to dance, everybody is going to want to join you! If everybody is dancing, join the fun and be the best dancer in the crowd! With that said, “Monster Mash” and “Thriller” better be on that spooky playlist.

Culture is Not a Costume

Do not come dressed like somebody’s culture. It is not classy. It is not cute. If your costume can be seen as offensive or vulgar to a single person at the party, it should not be worn. You want to make a bunch of spooky friends rather than be the offender of a distasteful costume.

Don’t Post Pictures Way After Halloween is Over

If the party is a successful banger, you’re probably going to have a million and one adorable pictures to post on every social media platform. For the sake of all of your followers, please, and I repeat, please do not post in the middle of November. Halloween pictures need to be posted before November 1st. Spooky Season ends the second November starts. Trust me, this advice is going to save you at least 25 followers.
