This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Her Campus OhioU hasn’t been around for a long time, but it’s already changed my life. In one year, I went from staff writer to Co-Editor of an online magazine that is part of a national organization.

I don’t think this couldn’t have happened without the foundation laid by HC OhioU’s founders, Amanda Hawkins and Rebecca Meiser. They started the branch winter quarter of their senior year. The organization had a modest sized staff that grew throughout the year.

We really hit our stride with the launch party that was held in May. The party was held at Fluff Bakery, a great little restaurant located on Court Street. Three all female acapella groups performed as treats from Fluff were passed around. It was a success.

With Her Campus, I found a sense of community. The organization has a strong respect for sisterhood that is apparent at every meeting. My co-editor, Hillary Johns, and I only hope for the staff to grow. We have a campus full of talented writers who we would like to have work with us.

So consider this a personal invitation to come and check out Her Campus OhioU. We’re a great group for you to test the waters of campus publications.

Plus, we’re pretty awesome. Just in case you hadn’t figured that out yet.

Her Campus OhioU meets Mondays at 7PM in Scripps Hall 116.

Hillary Johns is a Senior at Ohio University majoring in magazine journalism in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, with a split specialization in French and sociology. She is beyond excited to be a part of the Her Campus Team! She can often be found with her nose stuck in a book, most likely Harry Potter, or writing her own adventures. Hillary has a deep love of travelling and her favorite place in the world in Boston, MA. She hopes to someday pursue a career in communications and journalism.
