The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.
Everyone seems to love this time of year for many reasons. The end of the semester is near, and Christmas will be here before you know it. One of the exciting events this December is the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Although it was filmed in November, it aired on December 10th at 10/9c on CBS.
The show kicked off with the drum line from Rutgers University. The show also included special performances by Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Neon Jungle, and A Great Big World.
This year’s Fantasy Bra and Belt (“The Royal Fantasy Bra Gift Set”, pp. 69 in the Dreams and Fantasies catalogue) is designed by world-renowned jeweler Mouawad. The bra and belt set include over 4,200 rubies, blue sapphires, yellow sapphires, and diamonds. All of these jewels are set in 18-K gold. From the center of the bra, a 52-carat ruby dangles. The gift set is priced at $10 million. Angel Candice Swanepoel wears this lavish set during this year’s Fashion Show.
The themes for the Fashion Show included ‘British Invasion,’ ‘Birds of Paradise,’ ‘Shipwrecked,’ ‘Pink Network,’ ‘Eiffel Tower,’ and finally, ‘Snow Angels.’
In the show, there was a total of 70 looks. 30 of these looks included the famous Angel Wings that many people envy, although the Victoria’s Secret models claim the wings to be very heavy and a challenge to wear down the runway. 40 models walked the runway for the show this year. Adriana Lima wore wings in three of her outfits, more times than any of the other models.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is the most watched fashion show, so we hope you didn’t miss out on this event! I took a break from studying on Tuesday and enjoyed envying the beautiful and unique runway looks with my roommate and friends.
