Dear Fellow Ohio University Collegiettes,
With the holidays around the corner, we’re at an awkward age where we’re not children waiting for Santa to come down our chimneys with sacks full of presents but we don’t quite want to consider ourselves actual grownups yet. Family, friends and significant others request Christmas lists from their favorite collegiettes, yet we have a hard time telling them what we really want for the holidays. (We also have a hard time deciding what to buy for other collegiettes!) So instead of asking our loved ones for a fantasized list requesting $1 million, bottles of wine, Ryan Reynolds, free tuition or a house full of puppies, consider one of these more down-to-earth suggestions.

Various studies have found that people who write down their thoughts, concerns and anxieties de-stress and sleep better at night, reported by the Huffington Post. Another study conducted by An Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being study found that people who write down a list of things they’re grateful for before hitting the hay “experienced longer and better sleep,” Psychology Today reported. Like the Roman philosopher Seneca said, “Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.” It could be to a neighboring town or city. Arrange a trip to go visit a family member or a friend who lives across the state or the country. The opportunities are truly endless!
