Welcome hOUme, Bobcats

Homecoming at Ohio University is one of the most exciting times because so many alumni come back for a good time. The one thing that keeps underclassmen sane is their senior friends telling them that they will be back after graduation. I remember being a junior last year and all of my senior friends told me that they would be staying at my house in a year. Without hesitation, I agreed because the thought of my friends graduating seemed unbearable. Well, here I am a year later and I have seven alumni staying with me.

As a senior, homecoming is especially exciting because most of the classes that graduated before you come back to Athens. My roommates and I have made promises over the years to be a welcoming host to older Bobcats — that’s why we have seven extra people in our house this weekend! We’re so excited about it.

The best thing about alumni in general is how excited they are to get involved in everything going on during the weekend. They want to go to the parade even though it is early. They want to go to the football game and actually stay the entire time. They want to wake up for kegs and eggs and still stay out as late as possible that night. It is great to feed off of their school spirit and they keep you going for the long weekend.

The most exciting thing is that everyone staying at my place knows one another, so it will be like a giant sleepover and reunion at the same time. An added bonus is that there are even more people to help cook lots of eggs for our kegs and eggs celebration. Having a bunch of friends stay over is like going home for Thanksgiving; there’s food, alcohol for those of us who are 21 and lots of catching up to do.

To any underclassmen who have multiple senior already calling dibs on your house, embrace it! Next year, when your house is flooded with friends you haven’t seen in awhile, be ready to have a great time; you will be really happy that you did.

Just a quirky fashion journalist trying to get it right!
