Rupauls Drag Race Season 15 Episode 3 Review

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

We are back with another week in the workroom. The second queen was sent home last week: Princess Poppy. Slowly things are dwindling down.

Maxi Challenge: Snatch game

Snatch game is a Rupauls Drag Race staple. Normally Snatch Game happens later in the competition but instead in this season there were two teams who played the Snatch Game. For those of you who don’t know, Snatch Game is when a drag queen impersonates a celebrity and the goal is to be funny. Technically the game is to get a match with the guest stars, but in reality it is who can make the most laughs happen. This Snatch Game was amazing and also awful at the same time. The guest stars were Pit Crew members from the show. In the first group Marcia Marcia Marcia was Tim Gunn, Luxx London Noir was Amanda Lepore, Malaysia Babydoll Fox was Saucy Santana, Mistress Isabelle Brooks was Rosy O’Donnell, Anetra was Gorgena Ramsay (Gordon Ramsays sister), Robin Fierce was Karen Hunger, and Selena EsTitties was the Virgin Mary. This round was a really good round that had very few cringey moments. However, Selena missed the mark, every time she talked it was just awkward silence!!! The person who stood out in this round was Mistress Isabelle Brooks as Rosy O’Donnell, she perfectly embodied her character and was able to toss back and forth jokes. The cringiness starts with the next round… In the second round, Loosey LaDuca was Joan Rivers, Sasha Colby was Jan Crouch, Jax was the Mona Lisa, Sugar was Trisha Pastas, Amethyst was Tan Mom, Spice was Miley Cyrus, and Aura Mayari was Bretman Rock. To start on a positive note, Loosey LaDuca did an amazing job at Joan Rivers. She brought the laughs in all the time and had perfect timing. The people who made me literally want to claw my eyes out were Spice, Sugar, and Aura. Every time they spoke it just missed the mark and it was so painful to watch.

Special Moment

Loosey LaDuca opened up on what it is like being gay in a smaller town. She said she only came out after high school and that she still lives in the same town. As a younger child, Loosey was called the f slur and even teachers joined in on the bullying. Even today people in her hometown look at her like she does not belong where she lives. Loosey LaDuca talked about how with the bullying, she turned people laughing at her into people laughing with her which brought her skill of comedy to light. She said that what was once a coping mechanism now has turned into something she can make her money off of.

Catergory is: Beautiful nightmare

Surprisingly there were a lot of misses for me in this runway challenge. Beautiful nightmare is meant to be creepy and scary yet still beautiful and a lot of the queens missed the mark. However, the queens that shown were Malaysia Babydoll Fox, Robin Fierce, and Sasha Colby. My personal favorite look was Sasha Colbys which featured this Wicked esc. Wicked Witch of the West vibe with beautiful sequin lines that looked like either veins or a trees roots growing onto her. I was absolutely obsessed with this sexy and elegant black look. Malaysia Babydoll Fox had a purple look that was completely decked out in feathers, she looked like a peacock in the best way possible. Lastly Robin Fierces Christian Dior inspired silhouette with spider legs coming out of it mixed creepy, quirky, and cool.

Judges

This week Michelle Visage, Carson Kresley, and Amandla Stanberg were the judges.

Who won?

Loosey LaDuca won this episode.

Lipsync for your life

This lip-sync battle was iconic for the fact that RuPaul chose Sugar and Spice, the siblings, to compete against each other. What I did not enjoy was how it seemed choreographed between the two. Both of them need to compete like they are separate drag queens, not as a duo. I feel like they both would blossom as drag queens if they did so. I do enjoy the sibling relationship and think it is great for outside of drag race, but inside of drag race, you need to be your own queen. They lip-synched to “You Better Run” by Pat Benatar. Spice ended up coming out on top and Sugar was sent home.

Top 4 predictions

Two of my top four predictions remain the same: Marcia Marcia Marcia and Loosey LaDuca. However, I think Sasha Colby and Mistress Isabelle Brooks will make it to the end now, based off of their track record and personalities.
