Gabby Morgan: Gabby Morgan, 22, sits down to answer questions about Odyssey Nutrition and how it benefits the Athens community. Originally she is from Columbus, Ohio, and is now in Athens, Ohio, as part-owner of Odyssey Nutrition. Odyssey Nutrition has over 45 protein shake flavors along with various energy teas. Each shake has 24 grams of whey protein. The ingredients used for the shakes are Herbalife Nutrition products. Gabby strives to bring healthier options to Ohio University’s campus along with her business partner Stephen Adams.

What made you decide to open Odyssey Nutrition at Ohio University?

My business partner [Stephen] and I, decided to open up Odyssey just because we wanted to bring a healthy option for people in Athens. There wasn’t anything else in the area like this. Our biggest mission with Herbalife Nutrition and within Odyssey Nutrition is to make people healthier and happier. That’s what we want to do. We’re still growing our impact and we want to show people that it can be fun to lead a healthy lifestyle and live a healthy lifestyle. We really just want to grow our impact on the community.

Why did you choose the name Odyssey?

The Odyssey Nutrition name came from a student organization that Stephen made before I even came to Herbalife Nutrition or was in this business. He [Stephen] graduated from Ohio University in 2015. So, the mission started with him and he just wanted to show people how to live a happier and healthier lifestyle. He made the fitness organization called Fitness Odyssey, before Odyssey Nutrition, and we were just doing free fit camps for students and sampling some of the products that we have here now, we just weren’t selling them in Fitness Odyssey.

Have you seen progress within any of your customers, if so, how does that make you feel?

Oh my gosh, yes. So we have another nutrition club in Parkersburg, WV, it’s just like Odyssey. I had a client going in there for a week or two straight and she then decided to get on a full nutrition program. Two weeks later and she has already lost 21 pounds. She’s killing it and I am so proud of her…it just gives me more confidence in the products. I mean, I have dropped four percent body fat on these products the first month while using them, three years ago, and I have been able to maintain those results. I also have gained lean muscle from it and my energy is crazy too. I don’t know how people get through school without one of our energy teas. So, overall it just shows that anyone can do this.

Do you think having Odyssey on campus encourages people in the area to become healthier?

Yes, absolutely. I think being so close to a college campus is nice because we get a lot of students looking for healthy options, especially this generation and age population. We provide those healthy options for them and I think it’s really nice to do that. Also, a lot of students have limits on their means of transportation, so, being so close to campus it is really awesome for students. Even when I was a student and wasn’t working that day, it was nice to just come here and hang out because of the vibe we have.

Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t already talked about?

I think just the reason why I do this. My purpose for doing this is to show people what is possible within themselves. Believe it or not, I used to be really shy, not like this at all. I am like a social butterfly now. It’s crazy how much I have grown within this in the past three years. The reason I want to do this is because Herbalife has done so much for me, so all I want to do is give back to other people. So, I want other people to live and lead a happy, healthy life. I want to show other people that no, you don’t just have to graduate from college and go into the workforce. You can do other things with that, have fun, and still make extra money. Also, you get to be a part of a team. Not a lot of women have the opportunity, that I think we should deserve, so it doesn’t matter what gender, race, age, sexuality that you are. Anybody can do this, it’s just what you make of it. As long as you’re passionate, you can do anything that you want to do.
