On February 22, 2014, Bobcats, visiting students, families and locals watched as over 360 people ran “nearly naked” down Court Street for a good cause.
Bare on the Bricks, described as the nearly naked mile, plowed through uptown for its fifth year, co-hosted by the Student Alumni Board and Phi Kappa Psi. The groups were able to collect $2,100 to donate to Good Works and they received over 40 large bags of clothing to donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hocking-Athens-Perry Community Action (HAPCAP), and My Sister’s Place according to the press release.
Registration and clothing drop off was held in the Honors Collegium in Baker Center. Students were able to receive free goodies such as water bottles, t-shirts, and drawstring bags and take pictures outside of Baker Center prior to the event.
Sunny skies, 55 degree Fahrenheit weather, and music excited the group of students that were anxious to start the run. The race began promptly at noon with the painted members of Phi Kappa Psi leading the two to five minute run down Court Street to Pigskin for a celebration after with free food, a DJ, and bar specials.
